In just half a century the British surf scene has evolved from ‘a cult’ to a thriving industry that boasts world-class waves, champion surfers and a 300,000 strong surfing community. Level Films teamed up with two of Britain’s top pro-surfers to go on a mission to discover how, against a backdrop of vibrant youth culture, civil unrest and unprecedented social change this iconic surf scene was born.
Mark ‘Egor’ Harris and Mitch Corbett travelled the length of the country stopping and surfing at significant breaks along the way. On their journey they met key characters from the history of British surfing as well as current crews that epitomise each region’s unique surfing culture.
Stories are told through interviews, archives and animation and our surfers are filmed throughout their travels; capturing original footage of them and the locals that they met along the way.
The Endless Winter is about characters, heritage and uncompromising passion. It’s a film that shows that our much-maligned weather conditions create some of the best and most unique surf in the world. This film is about a very British lifestyle, a lifestyle of dedication, exploration and occasional hedonism!
