Description

The controversial mountain filmmaker looks back on her life, her climbs, her loves and her connections with the Nazis.

Leni Riefenstahl at the age of 90 goes back to the places throughout the workld where her career lead her: the Italian and Swiss Alps, the Maldedives, Japan, the USA and the Nazi centres of Nuremburg and Berlin.

She answers questions openly about all the issues which have made her such a controversial character, loved and hated, condemned and admired at the same time. Her remarkable films made in the 1930's with the Luis Trenker and Arnold Franck brought the Bergfilm genre to the attention of the world.

Her film of the Nuremberg rally Triumph of the Will in 1939 and the earlier Olympia, a documentary of the 1936 Berlin Olympics, ensured that she would forever be seen as a Nazi sympathiser - the film reveals her character as well as some unexpected self realisations.
