Beyond the Horizon

Beyond the Horizon

Colin Angus and his wife-to-be, Julie Wafaei, circle the world in a 43,000km journey by rowboat, bicycle, foot and ski, completing what Outside Magazine and many others have called 'one of the last great expeditions' - the first human powered circumnaviga

Description

In June 2004, a Canadian couple left Vancouver on a two year and 43,000km odyssey to attempt the first human powered circumnavigation of the globe. This included  rowing across two oceans, trekking over three continents, and exploring seventeen countries. For five months they rowed unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean, enduring four cyclones during the worst hurricane season in recorded history, to complete their 10,000 km ocean crossing, making Julie the first woman to row across the Atlantic from mainland to mainland and the first Canadian woman to row across any ocean.

The goal of their expedition was to show just how far non-motorised transportation can take you and to promote no or low emission transportation as a means to combat climate change.
